Their wedding ceremony took place at the historic Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and Wedding reception at the amazing Fernbank Museum of Natural History! I really love that we did a first look because we had so much time to take pictures at the Georgian Terrace Hotel before heading out for the ceremony. Chiamaka + Ifeanyi Annapolis Maryland Wedding | St. Anne's Church | Martin’s Crosswinds | Fotos by Fola

Hello friends! TGIF!! Thank you so much for dropping by. Early Last year i had the opportunity to travel to Annapolis Maryland to photograph the wedding of Chiamaka and Ifeanyi. This was one of my favorite weddings of the year. I had a blast covering every aspect of the wedding. I loved the spirit of the bride, groom, bridesmaids, groomsmen, parents, guests and the vendors i worked with. I pretty much enjoyed it all which is awesome.  This wedding was featured on Borrowed and Blue and on Washingtonian Wedding blog! I actually shot Chiamaka and Ifeanyi’s Traditional wedding the previous year which was an amazing event so i knew their wedding would be fun. I am so happy Chiamaka and Ifeanyi trusted me to capture their special day. It was definitely an honor. Congrats guys. I wish you both a blessed and happy married life! The ceremony took place at St. Anne’s Church and reception at Martin’s Crosswinds . Check out some images from the day!

How it all started

It wasn’t until attending the same convention for Nigerian young professionals that Chi-Chi and Ifeanyi officially met. After being introduced by mutual friends who had met at the first gathering, Chi-Chi and Ifeanyi quickly hit it off, ditching the conference to sit by the pool to chat all night long.
A year and a half later, Ifeanyi, knowing Chi-Chi is a fan of waterfalls, invited her to go to the National Botanical Garden. While Chi-Chi was distracted by the garden’s petite waterfall, Ifeanyi asked someone to take their picture. As the camera snapped away, Ifeanyi reached into his pocket to pull out a ring. He got down on one knee, but Chi-Chi was so stunned that it took an onlooker shouting, “Say yes!” to get a response out of her.

Stone Mountain Engagement Session

Hello Friends! Great holiday weekend coming up! Excited to share an awesome engagement shoot featuring Temi and San’Quan. They are a unique and fun couple so we wanted the shoot to reflect that. Stone mountain Park was the perfect backdrop for this lovely couple. I’ve lived in Atlanta for years and have never been to the top of stone mountain so i was excited when they agreed to go up there for some shots. It was pretty cool seeing the whole city from there. We truly had an amazing time during this shoot. They had so much chemistry and you could feel the love beaming through. I am looking forward to their big day in a few weeks. Congrats guys! Check out some images from the shoot.

Temi: I was walking, then I saw Quan and BOOM! I was swept off my feet. That’s not quite how it happened. San’Quan is My Gift that was packaged different from what I expected.

San’Quan: So, it all started back in 2007. Then a few years passed and our friendship grew. There was the rainy day in December 2011 and boom… The rest is history, like his-story (get it)?

Adeola + John Engaged!

February 26, 2016 | Engagement Sessions | 1 Comment

Virginia Highlands Engagement Session

TGIF! Thank you for stopping by.  Adeola and John are gracing the blog today! I enjoyed hanging with this lovely couple. We had a great time getting to know each other and just having a good time. My #1 goal on engagement shoots is to take off the weight of  the shoot feeling like its a “photo shoot”  and make the shoot feel more like a date. I love seeing a couples personality! I cannot wait to capture their big day! Congrats guys. Check out their story below. Enjoy!

How we met

I met John when he walked into my job to conduct business. At that point in my life, I was not very interested in getting into a relationship but for some reason when I saw him, I made an extra effort to help him even though as a manager, I had other associates that could help him.
While conducting the business he came for, he asked me where I was from and I told him. He proceeded to tell me that he was also Nigerian. I smiled in disbelief and said “yeah right”, shrugging off the joke. He kept a straight face and said no really, then I asked to see his drivers license and after carefully reviewing it, I determined he was lying.
He explained further to me and I finally believed that he may be telling the truth. After the exchange, he boldly asked for my number. Before I could say no, I found myself writing down my number. In my mind, I was only giving him my information so I could expose him to a beautiful side of himself and a culture that he did not know (as most Nigerian’s do)
The very next day, he texted “Good morning” and I responded dryly since I was not really interested. Clearly I had been overly spontaneous the previous day and now have to deal with this stranger. Anyone that knows me well, knows I’m not really interested in getting to know new people (#nonewfriends…lol). For the next few weeks he continued to text me every morning and we managed to have a couple of short conversations.
It was his birthday at the end of the month and he had invited me to his birthday party that was being held at a lounge. I decided to go with a friend after he asked for the umpteenth time. I remember not really joining him where all his friends were, but we shared a dance that was simply put… magnetic. It was then that I started to feel something different. It was almost like we were communicating in silence, and everything felt safe and familiar.
Shortly thereafter, I travelled across the world and he called me everyday. I started to look forward to his voice, laughter and humor and before you know it, I was in love with him.
After a few weeks, months and year, the rest as they say is history as we take the next step into our journey of forever.

Proposal

Honestly, a few months into our relationship, I knew Adeola was THE ONE. She was the smartest, most intelligent, beautiful, kind hearted person I’ve met. Believe it or not, I picked out her ring about this time but it did take a few more months for me to ask her “The Question”. There has never been any doubt in my mind but she had always mentioned that she wanted to wait till a certain amount of time to consider taking the next step, so I anxiously waited.
Now anyone that knows Adeola, knows that she is a very smart and resourceful woman just like I mentioned earlier. So popping the question was a very hard task to keep secret. In March of 2015, I got a chance to meet her mom when she visited Atlanta. I had a very great conversation with her mom and made my intentions known to her. I got her blessings along with that of the rest of her family.
The next Saturday after receiving the family’s blessing, I set the plan in motion knowing I had to plan intimate proposal like she always wanted. Ady had gone to work and I knew this would be the perfect time to go undetected. I honestly had a few errands to run and was racing to get home before she got back from work. I had picked up some rose petals, candles and wine and I also made sure to get the ring cleaned and shiny.
Luckily I made it back home in time and I put rose petals from the bottom of the stairs all the way upstairs and into the bedroom. I also made a heart shape with the rose petals with the ring in the middle. Once she got home, she was looking for me and I told her to come upstairs. As she walked up the stairs, I could hear her smile and laughter which made me a little bit at ease knowing that today will be the day that I would get the woman of my dreams to take the journey to eternity with me by saying “Yes”. I am so excited that she said “yes”.

TGIF! I am excited to share today’s post. Abimbola (Abby) & Michael (Mike) are on the blog today. They met in middle school ages ago and are getting married next year! All four of their parents have different cultural backgrounds (Edo, Igbo, Yoruba & American) so they had a brilliant idea of paying homage to all the cultures on their engagement shoot. The first part of the shoot was all about how it started and so we made a trip to Miller Grove Middle School. This was an amazing shoot and a classic example how you can incorporate different aspects of “you” into an engagement shoot. Check out some images from the day and a little about the couple. Enjoy!

How it all started (Abby’s View):

We started the fake dating in middle school (7th grade – you do not go anywhere all you get is a title and gifts for valentine’s day and Christmas) it was the second semester and we had a week left in school. He asked me to be his girl and I agreed. In that 5 days of dating Mike, he was a very strong judgmental Christian that chastised me for every little thing I did that was wrong. The last day of classes on the bus I broke up with him because I was not a fan of feeling like a heathen every time he was around. We remained friends and since we were both NERD’s we took several classes together and sat together. Through out high school we passed notes during class and flirted but I always turned him down on the date offers. As we attended college, he would text his usual weekly check up and being the diva that I am, I would give him the cold shoulder with a one word response “cool”, “good”, “fine”. This continued till I started Pharmacy school. We became study buddies over Skype to help me stay up and study for exams. He will ask for a date whenever I was home, I would always say, “yea cool” but when I got home I never went on a date with him. Finally it was my last year of pharmacy school and I decided to go on this date so he can let me rest. We went to One Midtown and during the dinner as usual I was cold in my responses. We ended up on the topic of God and discussed a class I was taking “Master Life”. Of course I became more involved in the conversation and we talked for hours. On our way home we continued our conversation on the phone and I invited him to church that Sunday. After church we went to brunch, the first restaurant we went to had HORRIBLE food. So I became really irritated (I don’t play with my food) and asked to go home but instead he took me to another brunch spot because he did not want me going home without a smile on my face. I invited him to bible study that Tuesday and the funny part is, that day was the day I noticed him. My pastor always gives us passages to read in our intimate time with the Lord and we decided to actually read it together. We went to waffle house because I was hungry (I am always hungry LOL) and we fellowshipped with one another. It was a wonderful experience to expose yourself spiritually with another person is not something you should take lightly. I have known mike for over 15-16 years and for the first time I saw him in a completely different light. I guess people are right, “there is nothing like a God fearing man.” As time went quickly we started going out more, majority of our dates were dinner or brunch after church or an event held by church. He became my prayer and accountability partner and I became his as well. At this point I could actually see myself with him because I could be my true goofy self. We are both God fearing nerds that love having fun and trying new things.

The proposal story (Mike’s View):

I had planned to propose to her Saturday in a hotel with petals all over, non-alcoholic wine (she stop drinking) and chocolate covered foods then dinner afterwards. Like it took me forever to set this up because if you know Abby, then you know that no one can successfully surprise her without her knowing the details. Tuesday, which was some days earlier than the day I had planned out for the proposal, she was having a horrible day. She was stressed out and very irritated so I came up with the idea of proposing earlier. I text and called my family to inform them of my plans. I usually met with her on Tuesdays before and after my Master Life class so I figured if I could get her to a restaurant it would make her feel good. However, Abby assumed that I was doing the usual routine to cheer her up (she smiles with food, shoes and flowers). I usually forget my wallet in the middle console between the front seats so I asked her to help me get my wallet while I went to the restroom. I pretended as if I was walking to the restroom while she walked to the car. In the console I had an index card that said open the trunk (she was oblivious because when I do things like this, it is usually because I have flowers and candy for her and I had some spelling errors of course she noticed but it wasn’t my fault I was rushing). She opened the trunk and in the trunk were red roses and with a notecard saying will you marry me. Before she could walk around the car with tears in her eyes I was on my knees on the side of the car with the ring in my had asking her if it was a yes or a no. She of course said yes. Took 15 years but I finally got the woman that I love to accept being my wife. We went back inside the restaurant to finally eat and she was so overwhelmed with joy that she did not touch her food. For a woman that loves food it is an accomplishment to know I can surprise enough to make her forget she was hungry. She called those close to her and informed them of the good news. The beautiful woman who I saw frowning at the beginning of the date could not stop smiling and looking at her finger. She called both her mom and mine with excitement on her face, voice and actions. I successfully surprised her and I look forward to the many surprises in the future.
